Hi everyone,
My thanks to: Oisin McGuinness, Julian Rodriguez, and Grant Ward. They
all replied to the original question, which was:
>>What options do I have for replacing
>>a PMAG-DA TurboChannel PXG video card on a DEC 3000/400 under DEC
>>Unix v4.0D? More details below.
Mr. Ward was actually running my exact hardware configuration with a
PMAGD-AA board, and the same monitor under DU 4.0B. Therefore,
the PMAGD-AA was proven to work.
(Part of Grant Ward's reply):
>Yes, that will work. I am sitting in front of that combo right now
>(VRT19-H4 though - southern hemisphere monitor). The PMAGD-AA is also
>known as an HX+, a faster version of the earlier HX (PMAGB-B series
>liek you've been quoted would work).
DEC support let us know that the PMAGB-BA and PMAGD-AA would both have
worked, but neither board is actively manufactured. We can, however,
get a refurbished PMAGD-AA, but we have only been able to track down
one in calls to five different DEC resellers.
So, if you have an old TurboChannel DEC 3000, please be aware of
potential rough water ahead if upgrading to 4.0.
Thanks to all for the assistance!
-Karl
