Slowing print jobs down

Hi managers!

I was wondering if anyone knew how to cause a print job to pause for a
half second or so before it goes from the UNIX print queue to the printer
(or in our case, the print server which attaches to a Xerox printer). Our
situation is that when we run our nightly batch processing, several large
print jobs get sent to the printer at once, and by the time they reach
the printer it thinks that they are all one big print job. The problem is
that occasionally we get an error message on the printer where the only
way we know how to get rid of it is by deleting the current print job.
Xerox claims it is due to the type of print coming to the printer and not
the printer itself (This is a different issue which we are also looking
into). This causes us to have to find out which print jobs didn't get
printed and then reprint them (sometimes dozens of print jobs).

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!
