[Q-2] Mail from cgi-bin process

Hi DU Admins

Thanks to all those who've replied already to my question
about sending mail from a cgi-bin process.

Most of the suggestions so far relate to calling some
mail program or sendmail from the cgi-bin process.
This won't work for us.

The problem is that the web server runs chrooted so the
cgi-bin process can't access anything outside the server's
directory hierarchy. That means it can't run sendmail either
directly or indirectly.

If I copy sendmail down into the server's bin directory
it wouldn't be able to read it's configuration file.
If I copied the configuration file as well it wouldn't
be able to cd to it's queue directory.

It seems like I would have to set up an independent
sendmail in the server's directory hierarchy. That is
what I was hoping to avoid.

Thanks again
Ian
