I have 2 1000A machines (rackmount, 256 Mb RAM ) , each running 3.2G.
I am trying to make 4.2B machines out of them, but:
1) I try to upgrade the first machine to 4.0A. This seems to succeede
but when it reaches S95xlogin in /sbin/rc3.d at boot the screen goes
black and the system hangs. (the screen gets the X- background and the
mouse cursor gets its X for a short moment).
2) On the second machine I try to install 4.0B directly. I boot from
the CD-ROM, the screen gets the X background and nothing more happens.
I suppose, those machines are badly configured from the beginning.
(They DO run X, normally).
Any suggestions
(btw, is it possible to get true colors on the display instead of
those rasterized patterns)
