Hello Managers,

We have a VAX STATION 4096 - Open VMS 7.1 and need to connect a HP
Laserjet 5M & DESKJET 690c through JET DIRECT EX 3 Plus.

The Jet Direct Supports TCP/IP & IPX/SPX only. So I have configured Jet
Direct to use TCP/IP and assigned a valid address through NT Workstation
and hence it is on the network and able to ping. Now I want my other UNIX
& VAX systems print through it.

I understand that we need to have LPD service running on the workstation
for printing to the jetdirect so that you print using the command
lpr -S Servername -P printername <filename>.

When I went through the online documentation it says 7.1 includes support
for TCP/IP is integral part of DECnet PLus!. AT the time of installation
we executed the net$configure.com and we have NAS license loaded.
I heard of UCX and others needed to be installed for tcp/ip - is that
still to be loaded here?

1) How do I install TCP/IP on Open VMS 7.1?
2) How do I configure the Jet Direct?
3) Do I need to Configure LPD?

Thanx in advance.

With regards,
