dump of remote mounted filesystem

I'm getting the following error when trying to do a dump of a remote
filesystem, mounted locally...

[root_at_corvus /mnt]# mount genus:/home /mnt/genushome
[root_at_corvus /mnt]# /sbin/dump 0uf /dev/nst0 /mnt/genushome
DUMP: Date of this level 0 dump: Fri Feb 27 10:01:35 1998
DUMP: Date of last level 0 dump: the epoch
  DUMP: Dumping genus:/home (/mnt/genushome) to /dev/nst0
genus:/home: No such file or directory while opening filesystem

Is there any way to do this dump this way?
I can tar but I prefer the way dump handles restores better....
and prefer a dump instead of an rdump, since it will be dumping several
systems, and don't want to try to guess when each one will be done.

Thanks!
