Greetings,

I am in the process of upgrading a DEC 3000/400S from 3.2G to 4.0A and
seem to be at an impasse.

I first upgraded it using setld from 3.2C to 3.2G which went fine and
I followed all the instructions for building a new 3.2G based kernel
customized for the system That all went well also.

I booted into the new kernel, went to single user mode and followed
the directions to start a CD-ROM based installupdate to 4.0A. The
program started and began its inspection of the system. That was
several hours ago. All I see on the screen is a continous flow of
'working ... messages' every couple minutes.

How long can I expect to wait for installupdate to inspect the system
before beginning the upgrade? I'm worried it is caught in some kind
of loop.

thanks,
