     Dear All

We have an 8400 running 3.2G, two HSZ50's and are using LSM to mirror
between the two controllers. We need to upgrade to 4.0B and I want to
re-install the OS to a new disk so as to end up with larger root and
     primary swap areas.

     My basic plan is to:

     - remove LSM from our current boot disk leaving /, swap, /usr as
     straight partitions with advfs again.
     - then install DU 4.0B to new disk.
     - then re-initialise LSM on new boot disk.
     - then restore old volboot file to get back the config with the other
     disks.
     - then encapsulate new system areas (root/swap/usr etc).
     - then restore the appropriate bits of /etc/fdmns and remount
everything. What could possibly go wrong.

Without going into the tedious details, can anyone think of any huge
gotchas to this - for instance will the 4.0x LSM software have any
problems with the format of the LSM control data on the existing disks
ie those configured with 3.2G version of the software?

Any thoughts gratefully received and I will certainly summarise,

     TIA

     Nick
