A couple of days ago, we had an Alpha running DU4.0D crash in the middle of a
vdump (of a clone filesystem) with the following error:
panic (cpu 0): frag_group_dealloc: refpg error
N1 = 21840, N2 = -1035
When the system came back up, "verify" found many errors in the clone file
system, but fortunately the base file system appeared to be undamaged.
The same machine has subsequently crashed twice saying:
panic (cpu 0): pmap_release_page: page not found
I don't know if this is related to the earlier error, but the timing suggests
that there may be a connection.
This machine has only been in service for a month or so.
We've been running a similar machine (same hardware and workload) under 4.0B
(plus monster patch) since October without any AdvFS failures, which makes me
wonder if this problem is new to 4.0D.
Questions:
Has anybody else encountered similar problems under 4.0D?
Is there a fix available? (I've heard a patch for 4.0D is due out soon; any
AdvFS fixes in that?)
Thanks
