My question was:
Does anyone know the maximum allowed baud rate on a serial
modem line connected to a 600 5/266 alphastation?

The answer appears to be that Digital Unix 3.2c has a bug that
appears to restrict serial modem lines to speeds of 9600 Baud
or less.

Thanks to Dr. Tom Blinn for his generous assistance.
