Yet again I am absolutely stunned by the volume and speed of the
responses.
Several options were suggested:
1) get more memory (because it -could- be that the machine is already
spending too much time swapping)
2) backup, rearrange partitions, restore
3) /dev/swapon /dev/rz8h (and fix fstab)
In retrospect, the OBVIOUS easy fix, and the one I ended up trying.
Went from 75% reserved, 36% in use to 16% reserved, 8% in use with one
command line.
Thanks to all who responded. My users have taken the boiling oil off
the fire.
