We recently installed two PlexSTOR 12/20 internal drives, mounted in an
external cabinet, on the machine listed above. The drives are seen by the
OS, can be mounted, and reads appear to work fine for small file sizes.
However, when copying over large files around 100+MB (we burn CD's with one
large cpio file on them), we notice checksum mismatches on the files. The
byte size appears equal to that on the CD, but the checksums are different.
We have tried the following without success:
1. setting the BLOCK dip switch on the drives.
2. setting the TEST dip switch (causes the drive to run at single speed).
3. using alternate PlexSTOR drives.
I'm still doubtful that the culprit is the manufacturer, since these drives
appear to work fine in similar tests on HP-UX. & WinNT. Yet, I am unclear
how the OS might affect the drives in this manner.
If anyone has successfully used external CD-ROM's with DEC machines, please
let me know.
Thanks in advance,
