Dear Gurus,

Following my quest for a nearby site for downloading JDK 1.1.5, I
received answers from
      Daniel Clar <Daniel.Clar_at_supelec.fr>
      Horst Wagner <wagner_at_iap.tuwien.ac.at>
      Olle Eriksson <olle_at_cb.uu.se>
      Valentin Nakov <Valentin.Nakov_at_physik.tu-ilmenau.de>
      Thomas Leitner <tom_at_finwds01.tu-graz.ac.at>

1) Olle Eriksson says that I am too general and that many persons
have no problem to download things from the US.
Is my problem another typical French problem?

2) Valentin Nakov suggested to try ftp.digital.de

3) Horst Wagner pointed to ftp.digital.fr/.g/DECinfo/java where,indeed,
there is JDK 1.1.5 (but not the patch....)
   Anayway, that's good news.

3) Thomas Leitner pointed to ftp.europe.digital.com/pub/Digital/info
   and says the following:

"You need the patch only if you haven't installed one of the other
"Patch kits (#5 or #6) for Digital Unix. These patch kits are
"recommended anyway so I suggest installing the latest big patch kit
"(you can get it from me if you have troubles downloading from
"ftp.service.digital.com) and then install the JDK.
"Just forget about the patch which comes with the JDK.

This last site seems to contain the same things as the previous one
   plus some others.

Note: I knew the sites www.digital.fr and www.europe.digital.com
but since they often point to sites in the US....

4) Finally, Daniel Clar offered me to download the stuff from his
(very) nearby site, which I did.

Conclusion: there *are* mirrors in Europe ... but I'm still not sure
that these mirrors do mirror everything. But I may be wrong. If it
is the case, sorry DEC.

Thanks to all of you!

Jean-Loup
