Hi,

I'm trying to set up sendmail v8.8.8 for SunOS4.1.4
I keep getting the errors
NOQUEUE: SYSERR(root): Cannot create database for alias file
/etc/aliases: No such device
when I run it.

I've compiled an ran makemap so that I can build a DBM for /etc/aliases,
but I receive the error:

makemap dbm /etc/aliases.db </etc/aliases
Error: makemap: Type dbm not supported in this version

makemap dbm /etc/aliases.db </etc/aliases
Error: makemap: Unknown database type ndbm

I ran a debug to see which databases it could access:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
dsd1# /usr/lib/sendmail -d0.1
Version 8.8.8
Compiled with: LOG MATCHGECOS MIME7TO8 MIME8TO7 NAMED_BIND NDBM NETINET
NETUNIX NIS QUEUE SCANF SMTP XDEBUG

============ SYSTEM IDENTITY (after readcf) ============
      (short domain name) $w = dsd1
  (canonical domain name) $j = dsd1.pbdsd.com
         (subdomain name) $m = pbdsd.com
              (node name) $k = dsd1
========================================================

Cannot open DBM database /etc/aliases: No such file or directory
webmastr... Recipient names must be specified
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since I will be working on sendmail on this server please forward
replies to

Thanks,
Jon
