Hi,
The solution to this and probably all the other problems i have had
with the console was so simple that I just couldn't see it.
I went into the ECU and investigated the state of the on-board
graphics driver. It was disabled. But I tried to SAVE AND QUIT not
just quit. And that did the trick.
After that, the command sizer -gr answered only: "1280 x 1024" as it
should instead of "640x480 1280x1024".
So, my idea is that the onboard graphics adaptor has been on, and seen
as FIRST screen and the "real" one, the PowerStorm has been seen as
the SECOND screen. And that is why (according to Tom Blinn) the screen
goes black because xlogin makes the second screen go black. This may
also be the explanation of why ,during installation, only the X canvas
is visible and the cursor disappears. It simply goes into the first
display where everything happens. (by moving the mouse to the right, I
could get the cursor visible and the button menus worked correctly).
I just talked on the phone with a Digital guy. He told me that the ECU
shows the values it would like to save, not the present values.
Thanks again Tom Blinn, David Warren, Don.
