telnet problem

Dear All,

This is on a alphaserver1200, with du4.0d.

Within the CDE I've created an xterm, that is preserved between sessions.
When I restart the CDE and attempt to use this xterm to login to another
machine telnet hangs thus:

# telnet omni.ac.uk
Trying 128.243.210.254...
Connected to omni.ac.uk.
Escape character is '^]'.

When I use a dtterm that is preserved between sessions I have no problems.

This is not a major problem, but any ideas what is happening?
