As usual, people on this list responded very quickly - thanks.

My original query:

>This last weekend upgraded a number of Alphas from 3.2G to
>4.0D and found that the su command no longer allows the
>-c switch.
>
>Is there a reason why DEC did this, and are there any suggestions
>on how I can get the -c functionality back?

Answers from:
Rodrigo Filipe <rfilipe_at_soporcel.pt>
"Dr. Tom Blinn, 603-884-0646" <tpb_at_zk3.dec.com>
"ram.rao" <ram_at_ini.dec.com>

It turns out that DEC has simply removed the -c switch from the
man page and not the su command, after all. I did some testing on
my own and found that the switch does indeed work:

#root# su rob -c 'echo "hi" > /DUDE'
/DUDE: Permission denied.

Thanks to all.
