Many thnx to this fantastic list, specially to:

K M Peterson
alan_at_nabeth.cxo.dec.com (sorry about the
lack of <CR>'s, nice comment)
John F. Marten
William Flett
Pedro J. Lobo
Dr. Tom Blinn
Russ_Fish_at_idx.com

Sorry if I missed any of you.

I've received many comments, most of them
pointing out to the fact that the compression
depends on the kind of data that is being copied,
so 4GB would be the ideal amount of data copied
with a compression ratio of 2:1. Already compressed
data (such as TIF, MPEG, JPEG, ZIP, Z) is not a
good candidate to have a good compression rate.

Other comments advice on the use of 120mts. tapes,
instead of 90mts.; or to use the -C switch on the
vdump command, in order to use software compression
instead of the HW compression.

Fargo
