24 bit video

Hi.
I am currently running a 433au workstation with a powerstorm 3D30
graphics card delivering 256 colors
with DU 4.0C. Are there any relatively inexpensive hardware options for
increasing to 24 bit color? What are the installation considersations
(drivers, firmware and kernel rebuilds)?
I am working with 2D graphics not 3D modelling.
