Hello Managers,
What is "Overlapping frag data corruption" and how this things happened?
After applied the Advanced File System Advanced Utilities, v4.0c, r404.
patches, I tried
/usr/advfs/verify usr_domain and /usr/advfs/verify -f usr_domain, and I
got the following messages:
--------
Scanning directories and files ...
Overlapping frag data corruption detected in:
File: <mount point>/sbin/setld
Page: 0
Run verify -f on this domain to enable recovery of this data.
Overlapping frag data corruption detected in:
File: <mount point>/sbin/adduser
Page: 0
.... ( six hundred+ files affected!!)
and /usr/advfs/verify -f usr_domain:
Temporary files created representing the two version of
page 0 of file <mount point>/sbin/setld
Refer to the README file accoumpanying the patch for a description
of how to use these temporary file to recoiver
from this overalapping frag corruption problem.
Overlapping frag data corruption detected in:
File: <mount point>/sbin/setld
Page: 0
....
---------------
Since there are too many files being affected and I can't fix all the
files one by one as mentioned in README, so I decided to reinstall the
Operating System (any other suggestion beside reinstall?). But very
disappointed, just after I reinstalled the DU4.0b with the with the
latest patches (duv40bas00007-19980402.tar) and Advanced File System
Advanced Utilities, v4.0c, r404. I found that the problem still there
and nothing was fixed!
Appreciated any information.
PS: the /usr/vchkdir /usr doesn't report any error on my filesystem.
