Just about all of the responses that I received on this one spoke
favorably of Fuji tapes, but no one had ever heard of 20/40 gig DLT
tapes being sold so cheap. I followed up with the vendor (Computer
Clearing House) to make dead sure that the items that I was being quoted
on were correct; unfortunately they were not. There was some kind of
misunderstanding as to what the model number of the 20/40 gig tapes are
(I should have demanded that he sell them to me at that price anyway :)
) and the real price that they quotes us for the tapes was $86 each.
Computer Clearing House is a vendor who we just recently learned about,
and even though there was a little bit of a mixup this time, they have
given us good price quotes on everything that we have asked for
(actually, they've given us better prices than any other vendor who we
have used but we're still a little reluctant to switch from our other
vendors who we have been with for years). We have yet to purchase from
them, but if they continue to provide such good prices on DEC
equipment, then I would imagine that we will end up buying from them.
Thanks again everyone!
