printing linedraw characters

Hello,

We are still trying to figure out linedraw characters here. I've been
working with this for
awhile but haven't been able to figure it out. We have QMS and Xerox
printers and we need
to print linedraw characters. I've tried using enscript and lpr. I
also tried using a2ps, pstext,
and lpspr to convert it to postscript first.

The results I get differ between the two.

With enscript, I am able to format the page correctly with font size and
the font we want
to use, however, the linedraw characters do not work.

With lpr, I can get the linedraw characters, but I can't control how the
font comes out.
I'm pretty sure the escape sequence I need to use is <esc>*0<esc>}

I called DEC and they said try using it as an output filter (of) in
printcap. I tried doing that by
editing a file with the escape sequence in it, then adding it to "of" in
the printcap file,
but as I remember, I don't think you can use an output filter on a
remote printer printcap
entry. I may be wrong on that, but it still doesn't work.

I would like to get this fixed from the unix side instead of messing
with the printers to change
the font and getting the linedraw characters working.

Is there a way to have the linedraw encode available to enscript? I
think that would be the
best solution to this problem.

any help on this would be appreciated,
thanks,
Allan
