Hi Everyone,
This is a 'repost' to a continual problem we seem to be having. We have
contacted DEC regarding the issue but they don't seem to have any solutions.
Here is what is happening:
On DEC UNIX 4.0D (with all the patches) the DE500-BA ethernet card running
in FastFD mode to an etherswitch, the ethernet card locks up when you
ifconfig tu0 alias x.x.x.x
If you run the DE500-BA in auto-detect mode (to the same switch) the
network layer re-initializes when you alias an ip address on the ethernet
card. The network is unavailable for over 30 seconds while it
re-initializes the network.
The DE500-XA card has the same problem when running in auto-detect mode,
but when running in FastFD mode the card works correctly without locking up
when you run the ifconfig tu0 alias command.
We are not running any routing protocol daemons such as gated or ripd.
This only seems to have happened since we upgraded to the 4.0D DU.
Does anyone know if there are any bugs in the drivers for these cards in
the new release of the OS?
Thanks for any help,
