top command

I recently compiled and started using the top command (on a 8400 running
4.0b). My question pertains to the output. One line indicates the
following:
        Memory: Real: 2010M/4016M act/tot Virtual: 24M/4300M use/tot
Free: 201M

Question: What does the Free indicate? I assumed my free memory was
the remainder of 4016M-2010M....
