Dear Managers,
I've a problem which both Oracle and DEC/CSC are
thrashing on, hopelessly I might add.
Problem:
When adding > 512MB datafile to a tablespace the system
locks up everything seems to be waiting from what I can tell
(afterwards). Even the network operations stop as does the processes
on CPU0 (it seems). A reboot is necessary after waits of up to
2 hours during weekend tests. My sister node (idle) can do all this
with no problems and has the same kernel config, sysconfigtab and
resources(!) in minutes for 1 or 2 gig datafile adds.
I have been able to add a 512MB datafile to an completely idle
SAP/Oracle instance which returns successfully after
locking up the system for 10 minutes.
Config:
8400 cluster 4.0b-w_patch 5/1.4a-w_currentpatch , 16 dual-HSZ50 v5.1-4
8gig mem, 8xcpus on each cluster node
8 - LSM mirrored , 6unit RAID
Oracle 7.3.3.5/SAP 3.1g
