The original postings follow this summary.
The problem was initially that I was running a pre-compiled version of
Samba, which didn't allow for Enhanced security (C2). Then I managed somehow
to get an old version of Samba, which apparently had some bugs. So finally I
downloaded the latest version of Samba (version 1.9.18p7), and compiled it,
and all is well.

Hi Guru's
I am trying to set up Samba on DU3.2G using C2, and I can't connect a
network drive, it keeps telling me "Incorrect password or unknown username".
Is anyone else out there using Samba on DU3.2G with C2, and if so, do you
have any ideas on what I need to do to solve this problem. Any assistance
would be greatly appreciated.

Last week, I posted a question about connecting a network drive with Samba
on DU3.2G. I should have given some more information which I will do now.
I didn't compile Samba myself, I just got the already compiled package for
OSF1 from the Samba site. However I did the same for our HP machine, and I
have no problems mounting a drive on my NT PC from there.
Also we currently have an Alpha machine that we are using for Y2K testing,
which was setup by copying info from our live Alpha machine, including the
Samba stuff and the C2 password info, and amazingly I can set up a network
drive from that no worries. However when I try to setup one from our live
Alpha machine, I get "Incorrect Password or Unknown Username"
I can't work it out.
