We have a ATMWorks 351 card in an AAlpha Server 1200 running DU4.0d which
we need to connect to a Fore ATM network using LANE 1.0
Fore use a propriatory system to do failover in LANE, which works as
follows:-
You configure (at least) 2 LES and 2 BUS services for each elan you need,
one called elan|0 and the other called elan|1 (elan is just an example!)
when a Fore card joins both of these it will use the |1 les/bus pair as a
redundant set. In the event of a failure of the first (|0) les/bus pair
all the fore cards fail over to the redundant set.
Of course the Digital card doesn't know about this failover condition, but
you can still make the ELAN work by joining the first les/bus pair, in the
event of a failure the LEC on the Digital card will simply stop working.
However!
With the Digital ATMworks 351 I cannot seem to join the elan. The card
will find the LES ok from the LECS, but then it will fail to find the BUS.
This does not appear to be a problem if I try to join the failover les/bus
pair (elan|1) This isn't useful!
Has anyone any experience in getting fore/digital equipment to work.
And before anyone asks I did try this before buying the digital cards, but
the test card I was shipped was a ATMWorks 350!
Any help appreciated,
Regards,
Jonathan
