Thanks to all of you who responded!
Total responses: 53 Yes: 25 No: 28
Most "Yes" respondents stated that they either didn't use the setup
scripts often or they felt the alternative interfaces provided in V5.0
would satisfactorily replace the *setup scripts.
Most "No" respondents, however, used the setup scripts often and liked
them because:
- they lead you through each step needed so you know what steps are
required, what defaults are available, and when the task is done
- have to remember more when using a GUI
- GUIs did not work as well
- setup scripts are quicker
- easier to talk a customer or user through a setup script
- concerns about terminal access and speed over slow dialup lines
While we have made numerous advances to address the above concerns,
we need to determine if we have gone far enough in V5.0 to make the
*setup scripts obsolete.
The data tallied from your responses has been forwarded to the DU
Release Management team for their digestion.
Thanks again for your responses!
Regards,
Paul
