Hi,

To simulate a disaster recovery and also test our backups. I have begun
an exercise to build an ASE cluster from the tapes of
a live cluster.

Here is what I have........
Live Cluster
Two 4000's running 3.2g and ASE 1.3.
Each single CPU , 1 GB memory, 2 FDDI interfaces , one Ethernet
interface , KZPSA connected to an HSZ50 and a KZPAA driving
a BA356 containing 4 x RZ29's ( system disks mirrored using LSM ).

Test Cluster
Two 2100's
Each single CPU , 640MB memory , 2 FDDI interfaces , one Ethernet
interface, KZPSA connected to a HSZ40 and 2 x RZ29's internally.

The problem I have is that obviously the configurations are not
identical , and even where it looks the same i.e. same number of SCSI
interfaces and network cards , it isn't . As they have different SCSI
bus numbers and differing types of network cards.
If they were identical , I could just do a straight restore.
Since they are not I was thinking that I should build it manually from
the CD's as much as possible and then restore the rest. However , I am
still going to have configuration difficulties.

Any suggestions, help would be received gratefully

Bill
