vrestore gone crazy

dear fellow sysadmins,

yesterday i tried doing an interactive restore (using vrestore -i) and i
restored a file from the /usr partition into my home directory (/home
partition). the the two partitions are in different disks and what
happened was that vrestore somehow changed set limit for /home.

when i tried the df command the limit for /home was set to the same as
/usr, making /home 270% full instead of the usual 31%. my users started
having all kinds of problems with their files. i reset the limit and all
is well, now but i don't think is supposed to happen. is one not allowed
to restore accross partitions and disks? someone suggested to me that
maybe there is a patch that fixes this strange problem.. anybody ever had
the same problem? any ideas?

thank you lots in advance and i will summarize
