After upgrading to Digital Unix 4.0D i finally had to replace a trusty
old 3.2C binary of pine with a freshly compiled one. The reason for
not replacing the 3.2 version is that any pine that I have tried to
compile for a 4.0x Digital Unix has the annoying habit of without
warning stripping the 8th bit from user input.
An instance of pine may be started and everything works, the user
compoese one mail and has no problem, he/she goes on reading some
mails and then composes a new one but this time the terminal strips
the 8th bit.
I have not been able to relate the problem to a specific event in Pine
yet, but it looks like Pine changes the terminal settings without
warning.
Has anyone seen this and maybe solved it?
Thanks,
/Erik
