SUMMARY: 2gb File Size Limit With NFS?

The problem we were experiencing was that, when using NFS to copy a 3.5gb
file, the copy stopped after 2.1gb. Both systems are running recent
vintages of Digital Unix (V4.0c and V4.0d).

Alan Rollow pointed out that the file limitation depends on which version
of NFS is being used. V2 has a 32-bit limit; V3 does not. He pointed me to
the man pages for mount which did indeed have information on how to specify
which version of NFS to use.

Dr. Blinn pointed out what I'd read in the man pages. Namely that NFS
*should* be defaulting to V3.

We did a mount -l and found out that one of the machines was indeed using
NFS V2. By simply stopping and restarting NFS it came up with NFS V3 under
the mount -l.
