System crashed whilst verifying advfs domain

Hello Alpha-OSF Managers,

This morning I attempted to upgrade one of our machines from DU 4.0B
(patch kit 7) to 4.0D. Being a cautious chap I looked at the release
notes first, and noticed section 2.2.2 which advises you to run the verify
utility on all your ADVFS domains before upgrading.

Unfortunately the verify utility ran for about half an hour on the first
domain, then crashed the system! I repeated it and the same thing
happened. It had got to the 5th (and last) file set when the crash
occurred.

Foolishly I halted the system before it had time to take a dump, so much
of the evidence is lost (I was thinking more about getting the service
going than about diagnostics). Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Bob
