Hello Managers -
I am interested in upgrading the processor on my
alpha EB 21164(1 cpu currently 333 MHz).

Information on the invoice makes me think that the
mother board can handle a 500 Mhz processor.

Does anyone know of a way to determine what processor
speeds the mother board can handle?(I have a request
into the manufacturer). If it is possible to upgrade to
a faster processor, what are the other upgrades I need to consider?

I have searched the archives, and have not found a summary
that answers my questions completely. I figure that a firmware
upgrade may be necessary, and I will have to boot off genvmunix and
rebuild the kernel after . Is there anything else to consider?

Boot Information from DIA is shown after my name.

We do not have a service contract, so how wise is it for me to
change the processor myself? Just wondering how easy(or difficult
        the task is)?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sincerely,
Ron Bowman
