% CPU

Hi,
Could someone explain what determines the % cpu used per process.
I have two machines A and B. On both there is only one
process running with identical data sets. On A, ALphaStation
600 5/333 it gets 80% of the CPU on B, ALphaStation 600A 5/500
it gets only 10%. Both machines run DU 4.2B. As a result
on A it takes only about a 4th of the time that it
takes on B. Is there a configure parameter that sets
the max % of cpu per process? If so how could I change it?

TIA
