I have been having some problems with a Alphastation 4/200/233, I know I
just screwed up the model number, I don't have access to the machine at
this minute, but I know It looks real close to that.
Here is its uname info:
root_at_truckin>15% uname -a
OSF1 truckin.storm.com V4.0 878 alpha
First off, the machine boots just perfectly when I just type >>>boot dka100
or just >>>boot
But I can't boot in the following situations.
Problem 1: I can't seem to boot to single user mode on this machine.
dka100 is the normal boot drive for this.
When I do a >>>boot dka100 -flags s
It seems to start up correctly, but then just hangs at the line
"Jumping to bootstrap code"
Problem 2: Very simlar to the above.
I can't boot to the OSF1 install CDROM.
I do a >>>boot dka400 and it hangs in the exact same place as it did above.
Probelm 3: A new drive won't boot either way.
I tried dumping everything from the old drives, to the new drive, I set up
the new drive in fstab correctly, and set the boot block to UFS.
Then I try to boot to it, and guess what, it hangs in the same place as above.
But still, the original drive always boots in normal mode just fine.
Is there something in the firmware I need to do?
In case it helps. Here is the disklabel for it.
There is a second old drive that is just being used as swap space. I doubt
it adds anything to this equation, it is on rz3.
