ASDU user file modification problem

We are using Advanced Server V4.0 ECO2 for DIGITAL UNIX on DEC 3800. We have
a number of PC users using Win95/98. An intermittent problem seems to occur with
98 clients who are modifying files on the server.

Problem Ex:
98 client modifies file using application #1 on a shared network drive
Unix timestamp changes, but modification are not shown (using vi)
98 client opens same file using windows application #2 and modifications are shown
After a period of time (10 minutes) the server begin to show the modifications

Additional note, if 98 client closes file, the windows application notes the dirty flag and
prompts user to save changes. In summary, the 98 PC identifies all changes but the
unix file system only identifies a timestamp change (not content). Maybe a cache
problem?

Other users who modify directly on the server (using vi) do not encounter problems.
The problem only seems to effect 98 users. One user noticed this intermittent
problem days after upgrading from 95.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
