I neglected to specify the version of the Operating System that we are running.
The testing below was done w 4.0d patch kit 3.

Subject: AdvFS Soft Limits and grace period
Since I found the documentation on grace periods and soft limits unclear, I have
experimented extensively with these. No matter what I do, the grace period
always shows up (when it shows up) as 7 days when I do a showfsets.
I have used edquota -t to set the grace period. I have tried it without setting
user quota and with setting user quota. I have turned quotas on with quotaon
for the file set I am testing with. The grace period is my test interval when I
do an edquota, but is 7 days or blank with a showfsets.
Even with a 3 second grace period set by edquota, I am able to write to the
fileset beyond the soft limit. I guess this is because the grace period is
still assumed to be 7 days.
How can I set a grace period different from 7 days? Is it possible to set soft
limits for free space alerts, but allow files to be written to the fileset?
Thanks,
