DEC 3000/300 - X Server startup (no keyboard, no mouse)

Hi DU gurus,

We are running an X-application which requires no user input on DEC
3000/300 workstations (these therefore have neither keyboard nor mouse).

We have just upgraded from DU 3.2D to DU 4.0D (patch kit 3) and have
found that the boot time has increased significantly due to the X-server
startup now taking much longer to recognise the fact that we have no
input devices.

Is there anyway to configure the system so that it does not try to probe
for input devices?
