After installing Oracle 8.0.4 on a 4100 running Digital UNIX 4.0D, patch kit
#3, root.sh is to be executed by root to set some permissions in the oracle
hierarchy. As root, I can list the file with ls but when I attempt to cat,
more, vi, or rm the file, I get an error stating that the file doesn't
exist. What's even more bizarre is I can touch root.sh and it creates a
second root.sh in the same place. Issueing ls will return 2 root.sh files.
The only way I can get rid of it is to mv all other files in that directory
to a temp directory, delete the original directory with the root.sh file,
and then mv the files from the temp directory back to the original location.
I know we will likely point the proverbial finger at Oracle but does anyone
have an idea what is going on and what might cause this?
