Thanx to all of you who responded (quite a lot, actually).
Some of you were absolutely certain that there's no difference, just the
label the manufacturer sticks on it. Others were convinced that the
Maxell-tapes were no good at all. Two people advised me to go with
Fuji-tapes, and one of you even wanted to sell us tapes.
Anyway, we will advise to use test Maxell-tapes for a period and then
decide whether we'll switch.
Original message:
Our organization is planning on changing from Digital DLT-tapes to
cheaper Maxell-tapes. The distributor tells us there's no difference in
quality. I'd rather hear the opinion of people who know what they're
talking about. So, what should I tell my boss: Digital or Maxell?
Greetings,
Dagmar Galama
