The advice is kind of conflicting. I think I will install the utilities
then try the reinstallation of the patch as per Chris' suggestion.
Many thanks for your prompt advice as always.

I have a 4100 with DUNIX V4.0D plus jumbo patch no. 2.
This system is licensed for the ADVFS utilities but these are not
installed.
I need to install them, which I have no problems with. However, the
question is, does jumbo patch no. 2 need to be reinstalled AFTER the
utilities are installed? Does this patch patch any of the advfs
utilities stuff?
(I have jumbo patch no. 3 but I dont want to install it on this system.
Its a live system and can only have minimal downtime. I'll test jumbo 3
later on a test bed.)

Nope. As far as I can tell, none of the stuff that lives in
/usr/sbin/advfs
is altered by patch kit #2 or #3.

In general, if you install any new subset to a system, you should run
dupatch against the last jumbo patch installed to see if any patches
need
application. You can run the Pre-Installation checks with the system
running in multi-user mode and if there are patches to be applied you
can
then schedule the downtime to install them at single-user mode.

The utilities are on the associated disks (I think #1). I'd install the
advfs patches first & then the patch kit.
