PPP and automount

I have more details on the automount problem I specified yesterday:

1. Why hasn't automount been updated to handle TCP mounts?

2. The main reason I want TCP mounts is due to a PPP connection I have to a
server. The server and the PPP client are on the same subnet. When I try to
NSF mount a partition from any system other than the PPP server, or when I TCP
mount a partition from the PPP server, it works fine (so do pings, traceroutes,
etc). But when I UDP mount from the PPP server, the PPP server is sending
packets for the PPP client out its ethernet interface, instead of sending them
all via the PPP interface. Why, and how can I fix this? It appear to me to be
a OS bug.
