SUMMARY 2: Problem printing with enscript

Thanks to all who replied to my qandry with postscript printing. As I had
previously mentioned, I fixed the problem by bypassing NT, however, there
is apparently a fix for NT (no, not replacing it with a real OS), that
addresses this issue.

1. Thanks to Burch Seymour and Sean O'Connell for pointing me to Microsoft
articles Q150930 and Q168457 which allows LPD passthrough for either all
printers, or selected printers.

2. Simon Greaves, thanks for the troubling tip of checking the JetDirect
card for multiple queue capability. Yes, our card will actually support
multiple connections to it.

3. Thomas M. Payerle suggested to look through the Postscript file for
verification of proper syntax.

4. Hank Lee was curious as to how to enable LPR client to print to Windows
NT queues. This is very easy:
- Install TCP/IP printing (Control Panel->Network->Services->Add
"Microsoft TCP/IP Printing")
- From Control Panel->Services, locate "TCP/IP Print Server", and click
Start. Change the startup type to Automatic to start it after a reboot.
- Follow suggestion #1 above to clean up the NT environment for proper
printing.
- To send jobs to the queue, you'd use the NT server's name and queue name
as the host / port in your printcap entry.

Now... the world shifts 90degrees.

The client wants it all different now. The HP printer I'm using is a test
printer (as it's just down the hall from me, and the real printer he wants
to use is down a floor, and at the other end of the building - I don't
wanna walk each time to see if a page comes out. :-P ) and now prints
Postscript properly. The real printer is a QMS 2500 something or other.
Anyway, he now wants the output to be formatted using certain built-in
fonts and certain #'s of characters / inch, line #''s, etc. As Postscript
seems to use point size (For example, he says he doesn't want 12pitch font
- he wants 15cpi.) Now that enscript looks like it just got thrown out the
window, what are my options for formatting text using a given (network, not
local) printer's built-in fonts and formatting capabilities?

Cheers!
Jon
