Hi all,

I thank for additional input
jmh_at_zk3.dec.com (Jan Mark Holzer, UEG)
Davis <Davis_at_Tessco.Com>
Jon Wright <jon.wright_at_ui.com>
"David A. Massaro, SUNY ITEC" <MASSARDA_at_mail.suny.edu>

I was somewhat mislead by the fact that I could not boot either from
disk or CDROM. Reason was the disk was bad and the CD drive doesn't
work. What I finally did, I put the disk on another small Ultrix system.
#rzdisk -s 0 -1 showed no bad blocks
#fsck gave "Bad Super Block: Magic number wrong"
With
#fsck -b 32 I had to repair rz2c and rz2d

Although I don't understandSuperBlock, Magic number, and picked up the
32 from some Unix man page, now the system is working again. (Trying
to use the CDROM showed that it is not working).

Afterwards I tried to find out more about the Superblock, Magic number
etc. just to learn what I did but was not yet successful. Also I liked
to find out reasons why in a running system only the superblock get
bad(update?). May be in the rest of my life I will find out how to learn
fast more internal things about Unix. Maybe from my VMS background I am
too demanding.

Regards
Otto
