system wont boot

Hi all...

I need your help once again.

I have just taken delivery of a rental-4100.

Have plugged it together. I can see all the disks, tapes etc.

When attempting to boot from the installation CD (v4.0d), all appears to
be ok until it craps out as follows:

configure_console: no serial driver from get_info
no kernel console driver installed
panic (cpu 0): system does not have a console attached

This has 4 CPU's 1gb memory. I have set the console type to "serial"
from graphics and it makes no difference.

Have power cycled the box to no avail. Does this sound to you like a
hardware problem?? If the cd wont boot it seems pretty fundamental.

Any ideas appreciated.

Regards - Tony
