hi
i do not have access to a dec 3000 service guide and i was wondering if i
could have some help interpreting power up test failures, and console
prompt test failures.
history: i have a dec 3000 300 axp that i am upgrading to du4.0d. after
doing the firmware upgrade (which, btw showed a verify error before
upgrading, but not after) i turned the computer off and then on. hadn't
done this in a while for this computer. the power up test showed an error
with the scsi device. (listed below) as per the few notes in the
hardware reference guide, i tried recycling power, turning off various
periferals and running the test command. i learned which device was
causing the problem. it turns out to be a dat drive. this is odd to me
as i had literally just finished my last backup before the upgrade and i
had no errors (will double check a restore on another computer now that i
think about it...). anyway, while running 'test' i also got errors that i
have corrupt memory. but this does not show up at the power up test. do
i have bad memory? can someone interpret the errors from test on both scsi
and mem. they are reproduced to the best of my scribing errors below.
power up test for scsi
?? 002 0008
test mem
LLSC test: addr 00200000 FWD wr 00000000
T-err-mem --- stl_c bcache miss with victim at addr: 007e3f30
T-sts-mem --- uncorrected error count = 1
?T-err-mem --- failed status = 20 test init addr 007e3f30
?? 800 mem 0x0020
84 fail
test scsi
T-sts-scsi A --- data trans test
?T-error-scsi A --- data trans test nondma/sync inq size miscompare
T-err-scsi A --- id = 6 lun = 0
?? 002 scsi 0x0008
84 fail
thanks for any help!
ciao
