Getting to 100Base/T full duplex with AS4000

Our 1.5 yr/old AS4000 refuses to go into full duplex 100baseT mode.
It's connected to an etherswitch port which is set to autonegotiate.
>From the alpha monitor (set device), I can set the factory ethernet card
(21140) to autosense (but not autonegotiate).
It insists on simplex mode no matter what I do with ifconfig (e.g. down
speed 200 up).
If I set either the etherswitch or the alpha monitor device switch (or
both) to full duplex, the connection will not work.
There is nothing I can find in the documentation to indicate the card would
not be capable of fast full duplex operation.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

P.S. We somehow ended up with two cards in the same server. Is there any
way of doubling the throughput by binding one interface (~ip address) to
both cards?
