SUMMARY: 8400 sometimes loses CDROM drive

Thanks for the many fast responses. General concensus is that we need to upgrade
      our 8400 and KZPSA firmware.

Compaq also reported that the problem may be due to "a CCL version older than
4.0". However, a show config on our system doesn't mention CCL at all.
