Recently my 4100 would not create any more processes and gave the error
"vmunix: task table is full" in the messages file. I was not able to
telnet to the machine or do anything else. I had the performance monitor
running that is under the apps manager-->system admin area of CDE trying to
collect some performance stats. As soon as I quit that the system appeared
to generate processes and all was well (I think). The current setting of
maxusers is 32, could this be the culprit? This server is a dual cpu with 2
gb of RAM and is used for PeopleSoft with oracle. 32 sounds kind of low to
me. Is there other kernel params I should look at also? Any thoughts would
be appreciated.
